Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Langtang and Helambu Trek is a 14-day long package which takes you through routes following three beautiful treks in Langtang region.

Langtang and Helambu Trekking initiates from the beautiful hill town of Syabrubesi and heads to Langtang Valley before winding through exotic rhododendron and conifer forest in Langtang National Park after passing through alpine pasture land, high passes, glaciers and moraines. Next, the track descends through Laurebinayak Pass (4610m) to Ghopte and Tarke Gyang to reach Melamchi Bazaar. The trekking concludes at Melamchi Bazaar from where we will drive back to Kathmandu.

Langtang and Helambu Trek is popular for being easily accessible as it is near from Kathmandu. Enrolling on this trek provides the splendid scenic views of Mountain and also provides you with the opportunity to witness the local Tamang and Sherpa culture prevalent in the region of Langtang. Hence, besides acquainting you with natural wonders of Nepal, Langtang and Helambu Trek provides insight into culture and livelihood of the highlanders. Thus this trek is the perfect combination of natural and cultural tour. 

Langtang and Helambu Trekking is a moderately strenuous trekking which can be joined by anybody with fine fettle and previous trekking experience.

Day 14: Drive to Kathmandu

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 

You will find our representatives there at the Tribhuvan International Airport, ready to greet you when you land in at the International Airport of Kathmandu. They will receive you with your name and take you to the hotel where you will be briefly explained about the itinerary package.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

On the second day, you will be taken out for an excursion to some of the chief sites in and around Kathmandu. Visits include temples of Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath and Bauddhanath and Durbar squares of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur.  

Day 03: Drive to Syabru Besi (1460m)

Syabru Besi is the initial starting point for Langtang trekking. It takes about 8 to 9 hours of drive from Kathmandu to reach Syabru Besi along the Prithvi Highway covering the distance of 117km. The way offers scenic views of mountain and rice terrains. Plenty of shops and lodges crowd the Syabru Besi Bazaar, which is a hub for Langtang trekking.

Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2470m)

The trail departs from main road and descends to a camping area below the town from the track opposite to the Hotel Village View. We will then cross the suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi and climb until Thulo Syabru. Later, after arriving in bridge over Langtang Khola, we will climb further up to set of six lodges at Changtang which is known by the name of Lama Hotel (2480m). We will spend the night at Lama Hotel.

Day 05: Trek to Langtang village (3430m)

From Lama Hotel, we will take a short climb to reach the point of origin of Langtang Valley. We can enjoy the scenic beauty of Lirung from the valley. The track passes through forest to reach the pasture land where yak and the wild goats can be seen grazing. We will stay in a camp at Langtang overnight.

Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m)

Today’s journey starts from Langtang Valley. We will then ascend uphill to pass through Sindum and Yamphu(3640m). Later we will cross Laja Khola and reach to a viewpoint from where Kyanjin Gompa and icefall from Lirung and Kinshung can be viewed. Ultimately we will lower down to Kyanjin Gompa and enjoy the amazing monastery located at Kyanjin. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Kyanjin.

Day 07: Trek to Ngegang (4000m)

After crossing the Langtang Khola below Kyanjin Gompa, the trail makes a steep climb through a forest of rhododendron and juniper. Then the trail reaches the yak pasture of Ngegang. While on your way, you can see Yaks peacefully grazing on the pasturelands. Overnight stay at a tented camp in Ngegang.

Day 08: Trek to Keldang (4270m)

The trail continues south, following streams and moraines and climbs steeply towards the pass. The trail makes a final steep ascent to the pass and then from the pass the trail descends steeply and enters the Yangri Khola Valley. Following the stream through grassy meadows, the trail reaches Keldang which happens to the destination for the 8th day. Overnight stay at a tented camp.

Day09: Trek to Dukpu (4080m)

The next day, you will start the trek after having breakfast in the morning. The trail then descends a long ridge, making many ups and downs and before heading down to the Valley. Then following the ridge line through small settlements, you will reach Dukpu after about four hours of trek. Overnight stay at a tented camp.

Day 10: Trek to Tarke Gyang (2590m)

The trail for this day descends steeply to the valley floor before hitting Melamchi Khola where you can take a well deserved swim in the crystal clear river before completing the short and smooth ascent to Tarke Gyang which is located to the other side of the valley. A 18th century Gompa with huge prayer wheel of brass exists in Tarke Gyang. Overnight stay at a tented camp.

Day 11: Acclimatization Day
The next day you will acclimatize to the changing conditions and the altitude and also take rest as you might have been tired of all the trekking. In the afternoon you will travel around Tarke Gyang, interact with the local villagers and learn more about their cultures. Overnight stay in a tentedcamp.

Day 12: Trek to Sermathang (2610m)

Today we will walk mostly through plain land to reach Sermathang- a Sherpa village. Sermathang offers splendid views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Rolwaling, Gosainkunda and Everest on a clear day. Overnight stay in a tented camp.

Day 13: Back to Melamchi Bazaar

We will follow the trail back to Melamchi from where we will drive back to Kathmandu on the next day. Melamchi is a wonderful little town in the region of Langtang and you will enjoy spending the evening in Melamchi Bazaar, observing the local market and its beauty. Overnight stay in a guesthouse

Day 14: Drive back to Kathmandu

The last day of the itinerary, you will drive back to Kathmandu from Melamchi. Kathmandu located around 59 kilometers far from the capital city of Kathmandu and it takes about 2 hrs of driving to make it back to the capital.It is all up to you whether you want to stay for one more day or return to your home country on the same day. In case you want to return, you will be taken to the Tribhuvan International Airport from where you can board a flight back to your home town. We bid you farewell and expect to serve you again!!
