Everest Base Camp Trek

The areas around Khumbu are commonly known as the Everest Region. It is the home of the Sherpa and the mysterious Yeti. This trek comprises the Everest Base Camp along with the Namche Bazaar, Lukla, Tyangboche and the whole of Solukhumbu, which is nestled in the laps of looming Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world and also the mount Ama Dablam. The trek to Khumbu area is not only famous for trekking and expeditions but to explore the culture of Sherpa. One can enjoy and learn Sherpa culture very closely by visiting this region. The complete trek starts from Jiri to Lukla. Flying to Lukla is the best option for those visitors who have limited time. Most of the flights depend on weather condition. However, helicopter services and chartered flights are also available as per your request. The Everest Trek is one of the most thrilling adventure treks for excitement-seekers. There are several trekking routes within the Khumbu Region like Kalapatthar, Gokyo Lake, Everest Base Camp and the Syangbochhe trek.

The vegetation at lower levels is dominated by silver fir, birch, rhododendron and juniper trees; at around 4500m the forest gives way to Juniper and rhododendron scrub. The park contains a variety of mammals, Himalayan thar, musk deer, the Himalayan red panda and the Himalayan black bear are all native to the park.The famed Sherpa people, whose lives are interwoven with the teachings of Buddhism, live in the region. The renowned Tengboche and other monasteries are common gathering places to celebrate religious festivals such as Dumje and Mane Rimdu. In addition to Tengboche, Thame, Khumjung and Pangboche are some other famous monasteries that you will come across on your travails in this region.

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu

Day 02: Sightseeing Kathmandu

Day 03: Flight from Kathmandu to Luka. Trek to Phakding (2652m) 3 - 4 hrs

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) 6.5 hours

Day 05: Acclimatization day in Namche (3440m)

Day 06: Trek to Tengboche (3867 m) 5 - 6 hrs

Day 07: Trek to Dingboche (4360) 5 to 6 hrs

Day 08: Rest day in Dingboche for acclimatization (4360)

Day 09: Trek to Lobuche (4940m) 5 Time

Day 10: Trek to Gorak Shep (5170m), Everest Base Camp (5364m) back to Gorakshep 7 to 8 hrs

Day 11: Trekking to Kala Patthar (5545m) back to Pheriche (4280 m) 7-8 hrs

Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar to Tengboche through Pangboche 6-7 hrs

Day 13: Back to Lukla (2850 meters), time 06.07

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu

On the 1st day you will be transferred from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to the hotel where you will be familiar with the detail itinerary. Overnight stay in a guest house.

Day 02: Sightseeing Kathmandu

Kathmandu valley includes several Hindu temples including of Pashupatinath, listed by UNESCO in World Heritage Sites and the largest Buddhist stupa in Boudhanath. You can also visit the Monkey Temple Swyambhunath, built in 2000 years old and visit Patan, city of fine arts. In the afternoonyou will be meeting with your trekking guide and will check all the things necessary. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 03: Flight from Kathmandu to Luka 40 min. Trek to Phakding (2652m) 3 - 4 hrs

 After 40 minute of scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, you will trek to Phakding. Everest Base Camp trip begins at Lukla and follow Phakding, which takes approximately 3 – 4 hours. Along the way you can have a view of Mt Nupla (5885m) Kusum Kangaru (6367m) and the Cordillera de Monte Kwongde. Overnight in Phakding (2652 m).

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) hrs
starting from a slight rise to Jhorsalle, the trail passes waterfalls and other cultural and natural attractions. During the day, you will be passing through the Sherpa villages viewing magnificent forests. Rhododendron trees, magnolias and giant firs provide a stunning backdrop to this part of the walk. En route you will be rewarded with their first glimpse of Kusum Kangru (6369m) Thamserku (6608m) Everest (8,848 m) and Nuptse (7879 m). (Weather permitting) a steep climb up the beautiful village of Namche Bazaar (3440m) which will produce more spectacular views and a comfortable place to spend the second night of the walk. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 05: Acclimatization day in Namche (3440m)
Acclimatization is important before proceeding to a higher elevation. It is therefore recommended that you should take a short day's hike to Thame, Khunde, Khumjung or up to the Everest View Hotel so that it provides a very near image of Mount Everest. You can even relax and explore the culture of Sherpa in Namche. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 06: Trek to Tengboche (3867 m) 5 - 6 hrs
From Phungithanga you find the trail climbing the forests where you find the musk deer. Tengboche is situated on a saddle at 3870m, surrounded by a clear dwarf fires and Rododendroms. Kwongde (6187m) Tawache (6542 m) Everest (8,848 m) Nuptse (7855m) Lhotse (8618m) Amadablam (6856m) Thamserku (6608m) offers an inspiring panorama of gigantic Himalayan. You will be visiting the Tengboche Buddhist Monastery which is considered as the largest in the Khumbu region. Overnight stay at a tented camp.

Day 07: Trek to Dingboche (4360) 5 to 6 hrs

In the morning you can have the spectacular views of the mountain and monastery in Tengboche. You will put most of the morning in the Imjatse Khola through the birches conifers and Rhododendrons. By following the river to the North, the path goes through several walls chortens and peanuts along with the small villages. On the way you can have the best view of Amadablam. After arriving in Dingboche, you cana enjoyed the beautiful array of fields surrounded by stone walls aiming to protect Barley, Buckwheat, Potatoes and Island Peak are the beautiful and great views from Dingboch. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 08: Rest day in Dingboche for acclimatization (4360)
On the 8th day you will be climbing back down rather than just resting in the height. You can go for a short walk of 400 meters, ascending Nangkartshang Gompa in the North of the range, Dingboche from Nangkartshang which offers good scenic view.  Makalau (8463 m), alternatively can follow an epic trail along the Imja Khola to Chhukung which may be longer walk taking 4-5 hours. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 09: Trek to Lobuche (4940m)
On the 9th day you will continue your trip through the Alpine region Dingboche high concluded Luboche. On the way to Lobuche, you have to cross the frozen river in Thukla glacier and climb up the hill to watch the magnificent views of the Cholatse, Lobuche, Nuptse and Pumori. Overnight in tented camp.

Day 10: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5170m), trek to Everest Base Camp (5364m) back to Gorakshep 7 to 8 hrs

In the first section of trek you will start from Lobuche following the narrow space between the moraine of the glacier and the wall, then cross the tributary mountain glaciers to reach the dry lake bed known as Gokrak Shep. You will stop for lunch at the Gorekshep, then walked to the base camp of Everest and explore the area which is famous for the many climbing expeditions up to the Mount Everest. The Base Camp area provides an opportunity to experience the rigors of freezing and brave climbers to the summit of this famous mountain. After exploring the Everest Base Camp, trekking you will be trekking back to Gorakshep. Overnight stay at a tented camp.

Day 11: Trekking to Kala Patthar (5545m) back to Pheriche (4280 m) 7-8 hrs
You will leave early tomorrow morning on the11th day and the weather is also bright and clear most of the time which is the best part to climb the Kalapathar and is the highlight of the trip, You will be rewarded with the points of viewing 360 degrees spectacular views of Mount Everest and surrounding mountains. Being back to Gorak Shep, you will have breakfast which is followed by a gradual descent to Pheriche to rest for the night. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar to Tengboche through Pangboche 6-7 hrs
You will walk along the hillside covered with Rhododendrons and junipers. If it is spring, you will be enchanted with pink and red flowers of rhododendron flames around you. Tengboche the trail drops to Phunki Thanga, from where all the way passes through pine forests and encompasses with an opportunity to see wildlife such as Mountain Goats, Snow Leopard and colorful pheasants. At last you will reach Namche for the night. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 13: Back to Lukla (2850 meters)
Today, the trail descends steeply down before crossing the suspension bridges Dudh Koshi river. From here, the trail becomes more plain and natural. Although the forests of Rhododendron and Pine trees along with the view of the snow peak distance traveled before reaching Phakding.  After taking lunch you will be continuing the trek to Lukla. The last night with this crew trek is will be memorable. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 14: Trek to Lukla

This is the last day for the trek. So, mainly on this day you will be walking and exploring the beautiful sites of Lukla. In the evening you will take your dinner along with your team members as this is the last night with your team members. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 15: Flight to Kathmandu

On the last day you will be thanking to the porters, who were the part of trekking. From Lukla you will take one-hour flight back to Kathmandu. If the flight is on schedule, it is likely to be back at the hotel before noon and you can have a good shower and rest in the afternoon. On this day you will be transferred into Tribuvan International Airport, Kathmandu so that you can return your own hometown.
